1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using Discern ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the App.
2. What the App does
The App helps you track prices across participating retailers, compare options, and (as we build out more of the product) get personalized style and wardrobe suggestions. It is a shopping companion, not a retailer — purchases you make happen directly with the retailer, on their site, under their own terms.
3. Accounts
You sign in with a Google account or a passwordless email link. You're responsible for keeping access to that account secure. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the App.
4. Our promise on recommendations
Every recommendation, comparison, and ranking you see is based on what's actually best for you — never on which retailer or brand paid for placement. We don't sell sponsored placement or boosted rankings, and we never will.
In order to keep this app free, we monetize transactions and services while maintaining a consumer-first recommendation system. Concretely: when a retailer link you click results in a purchase, we may earn a referral commission from that retailer through an affiliate program. That commission has no bearing on which products or retailers are shown to you or how they're ranked — it's an outcome of a good recommendation, never the reason for one.
5. Not professional advice
Style, sizing, and fit suggestions are informational and based on the preferences and information you provide — they're not a substitute for your own judgment, and we can't guarantee fit, availability, or pricing accuracy on a retailer's own site.
6. Third-party retailers
Purchases, shipping, returns, and payment happen with the retailer directly, subject to their own terms and policies. We're not a party to that transaction and aren't responsible for order issues, though we'll try to help you get to the right place to resolve them.
7. Prohibited use
Don't use the App to scrape or resell our data, attempt to disrupt the service, misrepresent who you are, or violate any applicable law.
8. Termination
You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the App or your dealings with any retailer. [Placeholder — needs jurisdiction-specific legal language.]
